A TASTE FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Hey this is ok. Saw it at Aldi so decided to give it a try: “Nexba” carbonated (bubbly, to the less educated) with natural raspberry and no sugar or “chemical sweeteners”, instead erythritol. Is that a type of sugar alcohol? I’m liking this even more… $5.99 for 4. The post A TASTE FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT appeared first on HaxTrax.

TASTY TOASTIE

Back to St Kilda’s Dear Liza for breakfast, a $12 Brekkie Toastie: soft, smashed eggs with melted tasty parmesan, spring onion, spinach, subtle chilli aioli and just enough chunks of chorizo for the tastebuds to wake up and pay attention. Warning: it’s addictive…    The post TASTY TOASTIE appeared first on HaxTrax.

WHEN IT’S TOO EARLY FOR A BEER…

Oooh look here: low-sugar sarsaparilla. Perfect. Someone at Bundaberg Brewed Drinks likes me.  I have to watch my figure these days (cos no-one else looks at it). The post WHEN IT’S TOO EARLY FOR A BEER… appeared first on HaxTrax.

U DON’T KNOW TILL U GIVE IT A GO

Bangers & Mash Roll, at 7/Eleven. It’s just a thick sausage roll with a smear of rehydrated potato under the pastry. Beef 21%, potato 5%. The rest, u know what. Add tomato sauce for nutrition. Hey, it fills a hole, for just $4. Serve with a chilled Gaviscon…   The post U DON’T KNOW TILL U GIVE IT A GO appeared...

CHEERS TO SARS

Oooh yeah. Sarsaparilla root, licorice root, molasses and vanilla beans: a serious soft drink for serious grown-ups. $4. (All bulldust aside, I’ve been hanging out for a good old sarsaparilla for yonks…)   The post CHEERS TO SARS appeared first on HaxTrax.

SUPERMARKET MYSTERIES of the 21st Century

Huh? Low-carb potatoes? 25% fewer cabs? Are they hollow inside? I bet it’s cos they are only three-quarter size spuds… The post SUPERMARKET MYSTERIES of the 21st Century appeared first on HaxTrax.

SUPERMARKET MYSTERIES of the 21st Century

Bread discrimination! Why does brown bread cost almost twice as much as white bread? Surely it costs more to process white bread. It’s bias against us healthier eaters. I bet Jesus gave out wholemeal loaves on the Mount…   The post SUPERMARKET MYSTERIES of the 21st Century appeared first on HaxTrax.

COFFEE CONES

Cafe latte in a chocolate lined waffle cone. Not to be sipped too slowly, it’s a quick “winter warmer” while listening to the Lauren and Eimhin Duet. At Banff Cafe in St Kilda.  The post COFFEE CONES appeared first on HaxTrax.

Staple food with ample taste

Corn Fritter spheres with a poached egg, heavily seasoned parsley-and-radish salad, yoghurt, and a poppy seed & (mild) chilli dressing. $18. Dish envy: my friend’s Daily Pasta has large tortellini in a light olive oil base with succulent sultanas, caramelised pumpkin and a burst of “oooh yeah” sweet flavours. Staple, 183 Fitzroy Street, St Kilda
