Calling all photographers, casual photo snappers, and visual archivists!

Do you have photographs depicting great moments of WA’s music scene over the years? WAM and the State Library of WA are presenting a free photography exhibition as part of WA Music Week, depicting WA music and our music scene.

Opening 19 March, Snap Shot: WA Music Photography from the Archives, will showcase the changing face of music, including people, artists and venues over the past 100 years.

The Scarborough Snake Pit, Parkerville Amphitheatre, Hyde Park Hotel, Embassy Ballroom, The Morley Generator, The Governor Broome… All these places have played a big part in live music over many years.

We want to make this exhibition as big and broad as we can so we are looking for your contributions to the exhibition, and we’d like to see all eras, styles and genres of music represented. So, if you have photos of bands, audiences, places etc, that reflect the diversity of the music scene in age, genre, gender and style, and you have some provenance of the images we’d like to hear from you – just email georgia@wam.org.au and we can get the ball rolling.

The exhibition will run over five weeks, from 19 March – 23 April, and will be shown at The Nook at the State Library, as well as on the big screen at the Northbridge Piazza.
