Borgogno Barolo Liste DOCG 2008

$180.00

WARNING!!! the darkest most intense 2008 Barolo I have tasted this year. T

his stuff is deep and full on from start to finish. Decant for 3 hours – Hints of what is to come begin to emerge. Dark black ripe fruit fills the nostrils as they flair wide open to sniff even harder filling the nose and lungs with dry wild flowers followed by a meaty whiff / pong but in a good way, then sweet red and white rose petals start to show themselves berries and currants dart in and out. I

have just taken a sip and every thing has changed, tar and roses wrapt in a smokey vale with mouth filling acid. The acid is what I am enjoying the most, its almost mouth watering, and puckering now liquorice has made an appearance this is bold to say the least in fact by the time you read this I have almost drunk half a bottle, mind you 3 hours decant and it has taken 1 hour slow drinking to describe the experience and I haven’t even mentioned the wonderful almost chocolate tannins that run the full length of this wine.

I must impress upon you, the longer this wine breaths the more it will show you. I must also impress upon you several Wine Facts. Most importantly this wine needs 5 hours to open up and begin to show its gentle side.

I have opened this wine way to soon about 10 years to soon in fact. This wine will live for another 10 to 20 years easy, I may not! If you have not tried a Barolo Now is the time! With a full Christmas lunch roast turkey & cranberry and roast pork with crackle and apple sauce and crisp roast potatoes.

The bold acid and rich full flavours need a old fashion juice meat and potatoes meal and will complement each other nicely. OR spoil yourself and do the most wonderful thing and enjoy this wine with Fat char grilled BBQ Duck sausages in the park under the shade of a large tree over summer. Good ones start at $70 + and if you are adventures with your wines, Barolo will change the way you drink wine forever!!!!!!!
