Mother’s Day Weekend 6-8 May 2022

‘He’s Julia Morris meets Jamie Redfern! He’s Edna meets Bublé!’

Due to continuous standing ovations, and tummy tickle laughter in his February season of shows, Bob Downe is coming back to MEMO this Mother’s Day Weekend for a season of three specially tailored shows. If you can’t take Mum to Vegas, let Vegas come to her!

Get on Downe to laugh and sing along to Bob’s retro Las Vegas lounge act, in a hilarious evening of Wild Comedy and Classic Hits with Bob and his swingin’ Live Band Melbourne’s own Shuffle ClubJoining Bob for the first time in Melbourne are dancing girls Frenchie Darling and Cello Bordello.

“I adored playing Memo, a real old school cabaret room! If it was good enough for Normie Rowe to record his earliest hits, it’s good enough for me!”

VIVA BOB VEGAS! – it’s a brand new, old style nightclub show with the Prince of Polyester that’ll have you in stitches and reaching for a Highball. As always, Bob Downe promises to put the Pimms in your Punch!

Bob’s stage shows have played to acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Cabaret Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and decades of touring across Australia and the UK including P&O Comedy Cruises and performing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance. Bob’s TV appearances range from Countdown to The Project, from the Mike Walsh Show to Studio 10, and hosting multiple Sydney Mardi Gras broadcasts. As Mark he has been heard regularly on ABC local radio and presented The Way We Were, a ratings winner on ABCTV in 2004. He is also featured regularly on Kath & Kim as ‘Darryl’ the menswear salesman.

About BOB DOWNE aka Mark Trevorrow

One of Australia’s most loved and enduring comedy characters, Bob Downe is the creation of journalist, comedian, actor and broadcaster Mark Trevorrow. Mark was born in Melbourne, trained as a journalist at the Herald Sun, and moved to Sydney in 1982 with the huge success of his cabaret group, The Globos. He created Bob Downe in 1984 and has toured the world as the Prince of Polyester ever since.

About The Shuffle Club

Their style is most easily described as a hot blend of jazz, swing, blues and boogie. But that hardly does justice to The Shuffle Club’s raw energy and enthusiasm – the kind that will bring you to your feet and on to the dance floor before you even quite know what is happening!

Featuring all four band members singing individually, Melbourne jazz band, The Shuffle Club, is made up of hot sax, bass, drums and piano, with damn tight arrangements in a variety of styles setting this band apart from the rest.

They have made music together since 1999, touring internationally across Europe, Asia and Central America, regulars at The Edinburgh Fringe  and perform regularly in venues and festivals all over Australia.
