The countdown is well and truly on…
every day we see Bluesfest 2023 coming together.

I was so proud to have presented BLUESFEST 2022 after having been cancelled the day before the festival that was due to occur in 2021, for Covid, when no new cases were occurring in the region, and didn’t for the duration of the festival AND the following week! it was such a deadly blow from a government that truly should have considered the damage it was doing to BLUESFEST and the entire music industry with the stroke of a pen… it could have and should have been handled so much better.

However we came roaring back last Easter and presented, warts & all, a truly memorable edition of BLUESFEST. It was in many ways, and given what happened in 2021, our greatest ever festival! We did it, the hard-working Bluesfest team, the incredible gathering of musicians that we had, and especially you… who attended, to celebrate the return of live music.

I was determined to deliver a full-sized ‘no holds barred’ full capacity Bluesfest, where no one attending could say … “oh, it’s certainly not what it used to be.”

I believe we did it …and I thank you for your incredible support…

Bluesfest 2023 is another challenge in our return to presenting a full international and Australian lineup, with so many great bands returning to our states and playing for the first time. You may have seen us announce some tours already as just a taste of what is coming next Easter… but it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Our first announcement, now only weeks away, will be one of our best ever, because I am determined to bring back to BLUESFEST the magic of the great festivals we produced prior to Covid… and believe me, we settle for nothing less.

It’s not going to be too many more weeks until we unveil our first announcement for our 34th Bluesfest… coming to you Thursday 6th April through Monday 10th April 2023.

It’s going to be special! God Bless you.

? Bluesfest Touring announces
TWO MASSIVE TOURS FOR APRIL 2023?

BONNIE RAITT is proud to present her latest album release ‘Just Like That’ in two incredibly special concerts. Bonnie is a ten-time GRAMMY Award winner, a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and in 2022 was the recipient of the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award. Her dear friend, the legendary MAVIS STAPLES, herself a multi-GRAMMY award winner and GRAMMY Hall of Famer, will join Bonnie as a special guest on this tour. Two iconic legends – one memorable night.

MARCUS KING is one of the fastest rising artists, he returns for his second visit to Australia for Bluesfest Touring in April 2023. At 26 years of age, with a GRAMMY-nominated debut album under his belt, produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, he is showing maturity far beyond his years. Marcus King is a ‘KING’ of unparalleled performance prowess with a dynamic live show, switching from swaggering rock to supersonic soul. He’s just teased us with three singles from his new album ‘Young Blood’, which drops on 26th August.

Pre-sale for both tours starts:
Tuesday, August 16, 2022, 12PM AEST

THE LUMINEERS

It’s been three years…and we certainly missed seeing The Lumineers in Australia.
ALL their shows are close to selling out – so don’t wait…get your tickets pronto!

Presented In Partnership With Handsome Tours.

JASON ISBELL and THE 400 UNIT

Tickets in both Sydney & Melbourne are selling fast!
Sydney is on full release now – and when these last tickets are gone … that’s it.
In Melbourne we have just released more tickets for his show at The Palais Theatre, but they won’t last. Don’t miss out!

BUDDY GUY – ‘Damn Right, Farewell’ Tour

There are no more tickets to release and tickets are selling fast in both Melbourne and Sydney for Buddy’s farewell tour and at this time there are no plans to do any other concerts in these cities.

LARKIN POE

The Revell sisters are heading towards a sell-out in both cities – and no wonder – their fans have been waiting since 2019 for their return.  They are so worth the wait though; their guitar virtuosity and blues-fuelled rock is a veritable ‘tour de force’.

BLUESFEST PRICELESS
MOMENTS GIVEAWAY!

To celebrate the imminent opening of our Vintage Merch Store – we thought we would give some of you a head start.  Send us your best shot, we will post our favorites on Facebook and three lucky people will win a Bluesfest merch pack.

And the photos don’t have to be from Bluesfest 2022 either – just dive deep into your Blues bank of memories until you find the one that brings that big, big smile on, and then share it with us. You have time to share your photos until the 31st of August.

Send your memories to: festival@bluesfest.com.au

Bluesfest stalwart Jeff Lang took time out to tell us how he feels about coming back to the live music scene after the lockdowns… what he did during the long Melbourne lockdowns … and how they affected him. And for the budding muso … he lets us in on the secret of how he puts his sets together.

Bluesfest favourites Hat Fitz and Cara hang out and talk music, festival diversity
and why Bluesfest is so important to them and to all musicians.  Being a couple in both their personal and professional life the conversation can get a little ‘colourful’ between them just as it does on stage… but they do share the wonderful story of how Fitzy ‘cracked on’ to Cara, while he was touring in Ireland.
