Alain-Gautheron-Chablis2013

$39.00

$39.00 is cheep when you taste what is in the bottle. This is what I look for and remember my first Chablis to taste like. With all that green fruit and cool minerals on the nose that follow through to the sharp and flinty finish on the plate. This is quite sharp and green and may not appeal to a lot of Australian Chardonnay drinkers that are used to bigger rounder and sometimes buttery Chardonnays.

Truly I have no idea where this wine will go with time in bottle. As there is clear Chardonnay fruit on the plate that is in balance with the green flinty minerals that wash through the mouth from start to finish as it slides down the back of the throat to a delicious and exciting finish. I will endeavour to put a few bottles down but I doubt they will get more than a few years bottle age before hey come to an untimely demise the stuff is that delicious.

Had this wine Friday night with proper beer battered whiting and hand cut chips with a green leaf salad topped with chunky parmesan croutons. A match made in heaven. Truly better than fine dining the flavours worked so well and so simple you could do it at home!!
